From Ancient Greek mythology…

Ariadne’s Thread is the legend of Ariadne; a romantic and dramatic heroin who held a  spool of thread that was to lead Theseus out of the labyrinth, avoiding death at the hands of the Minotaur who lurked within.

It is also the term used to describe the solving of a problem - such as a physical maze or a puzzle.  Ariadne’s thread represents the connection that every person has with his spiritual nature and that following the thread will return one to his or her true origin.

This legend was to have originated here in Tarascon de Provence.

Pierre-Marie Brisson’s art is full of nuance and subtlety. It conveys an “out of time” ambience, as if in a magic space, reminding us of the atmosphere of a half-erased fresco from Pompei where there is a deep feeling of both pleasure and nostalgia.

The memory of time is a notion, which is important in Pierre Marie Brisson’s work. There is a saying that “the days of man fly past faster than the weaver's shuttle”, and I invite you all to let yourselves be guided by the remarkable thread of Ariadne's that Pierre-Marie Brisson has woven for our greatest pleasure.
